D’Angelo Russell/ Brandon Ingram
Mike Hill Jr was born in raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. He first picked up a basketball at age 3 and started playing organized basketball at age 7. At age 9 he was introduced to AAU Basketball and from there has played for a few different teams. Entering into middle school is when Mike knew he could really do something special with the game as long as he stayed focused and worked harder than the next man up. He always loved and had a passion for the game since he first picked the ball up and being that he got to experience first watching High School Superstar O.J Mayo play throughout his high school career. Mike always attracted coaches attention due to his height and length along with his ability to shoot and handle the ball well at his size. By 10th Grade Mike was 6’4 and steady growing. Mike trained hard and always looked to be in the gym even with the limited access to gym he did have. Not only was he very good on the court but in the classroom as well Mike graduated top 5 in a class of 250+ students, with a 3.8 & 4.1 gpa (weighted & unweighted). Mike has a leadership presence on the court by keeping his team involved and communicates well in both ends of the floor. Mike graduated in 2019 and earned a scholarship to Eastern Arizona College where he got injured during the last scrimmage before the home opener and decided to redshirt and after that year COVID-19 interfered with the continuance where he didn’t return, since then Mike has been training and staying in the Gym and men’s leagues throughout the City looking for that next opportunity the hidden Gem is ready for the next chapter.
